A one-day Seminar on “Mushroom Cultivation- A New Era of Empowerment” was organized by Uttaranchal University on 15th October, 2015. A total number of 40 participants attended the seminar. The objective of the seminar was to create awareness about mushroom diversity conservation, thereby promoting entrepreneurial skills in the field of mushroom cultivation and explore the opportunities for startup. Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal, in his address, emphasized on the importance of mushroom. Dr. Manjul Dhiman, Head, Department of Botany, K.L. DAV College, Roorkee, was the Guest Speaker of this event. He delivered introductory speech on scope of mushroom cultivation, provided knowledge about the mushroom diversity and the technical aspects used for commercial level of mushroom cultivation. The seminar precisely focused on mushroom cultivation practices and management for the proper storage and marketing. The seminar proved to be beneficial to all attendees as well as organizers through providing exposure to all aspects related to mushroom cultivation.
