Uttaranchal University has been on the front foot always in creating synergies towards the success of the campaigns that aim to bring positive changes in the society. One such association of the NSS Wing of the University was the support it extended to the Aparajita campaign of the Hindi daily newspaper Amar Ujala. The event was organized on the occasion of the martyrdom of the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 2019. On this occasion the theme of the entire event was women empowerment and protection of the woman and giving voice to the women related issues. Daylong event saw organizing of many events in the university campus including debates and public discussions forums. There were a large number of students mobilized on this occasion who came forward with the innovative ideas to give the girl child a status of equality. Gender equality was the predominant issue on which people put their views forward. Many volunteers chose to speak on the heinous crime of feticide that was prevalent in many parts of the country. Many female students enthusiastically participated in these discussions who had talked about all kinds of harassments and exploitations that a girl has to face in day to day lives.
The students were also introduced to the portal launched by Amar Ujala to propagate the ideas of women empowerment and protection. Speaking on this occasion the Head of NSS Dr. V. K. Srivastava said that it is only through the emancipation of women in the society that the progress of the nation is possible and the dream of all the great leaders of the country could be realized.
