Law College Dehradun organizes ‘Connaitre – 2019’

Law College Dehradun organized ‘Connaitre – 2019’ , a Training Program under the aegis of Youth Parliament Society (YPS), exclusively for the students of Law College Dehradun to train and make the students learn about the rules and procedures of the Model United Nations and Youth Parliaments. The main objective of this Session was to make the students know about the significance and usage of Model UN Conferences and Youth Parliaments. The Training Program which started its registration on 5th February 2019 saw a good number of registrations which showed great enthusiasm among the students. The First Session of ‘Connaitre’ was held on 11th February 2019 in which Students were given a brief introduction and overview about Model United Nations and Youth Parliaments. The Second Session of ‘Connaitre’ was held on 15th February 2019 in which Students were explained about the Rules and Procedure related to Model United Nations and Youth Parliaments. The Students were also explained about the research methodology which they shall use while doing research for Model UN Conferences and Youth Parliaments. The first two sessions being purely theoretical, next two sessions were planned to give practical exposure to the students in relation to Model United Nations and Youth Parliaments.

The First Mock Session was held on 18th February 2019 where Principal & Dean Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna addressed the students and encouraged them to participate in Model UN Conferences and Youth Parliaments. Mr. Anjan Sahu, Alumni of Law College Dehradun and a practicing lawyer at Nainital High Court was invited to moderate this Session. The Committee which was simulated in this Session was United Nations General Assembly- DISEC. The Agenda of this Committee was “International Security in the Light of Information Technology and Cyber Warfare”. The Committee commenced and saw enthusiastic participation of the Students.

The Second Mock Session which was related to Youth Parliament was held on 19th February 2019 and Mr. Basuki Nath Pandey, President of Youth Parliament Society, ICFAI University was invited to Moderate the Session. The Committee which was simulated in this Session was Lok Sabha. The Agenda of Lok Sabha was “Review of NDA Government”. The students very well debated on the given agenda and raised many important issues.

The main objective of this Training Program was to make the students learn and understand what Model United Nation Conferences and Youth Parliaments are all about. And with the kind of feedback that was received, the society was able to fulfill its objective. The Society will continue to conduct Mocks regularly for the students of the college.
The Society extended its gratitude to Principal & Dean Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, for his constant support and encouragement which enabled them to conduct the Training Program successfully. The Society expressed its gratitude towards Chairperson, Mr. Razit Sharma, without whom the Society could not have made it a success.
