Law College Dehradun organized Legal Awareness Camp

Law College Dehradun organized Legal Awareness Camp at village Kotra Santor in Sahaspur Block, in Dehradun district. The students of Law College Dehradun explained through their presentations, the laws regarding Domestic Violence, FIR, Motor Accident, Forestry, RTI and the law regarding Distribution of narcotic substances and legal aid.

More than 20 Gram Pradhans, Block Panchayat members and Zila Panchayat members, under Sahaspur Block, Self-help groups and Social workers participated in the camp.

The Chief Guest at this occasion was the Law Secretary, Govt. of Uttarakhand, Mr. D. P. Gairola. The special invitees were Mr. Prem Singh Khimal and Joint Secretary Mr. Rakesh Singh.

At this occasion, the Chancellor of the Uttaranchal University, Mr. Jitendra Joshi assured the local community that Uttaranchal University would continue to work towards creating legal awareness among the people.

Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna, Principal/Dean, Law College Dehradun reiterated the objective of Law College to spread the legal awareness among the people especially in the rural areas.

The Chief Guest, Mr. D.P. Gairola urged the people to attend such camps and gain knowledge about their legal rights because illiteracy and poverty make people under privileged but ignorance of law makes them victims of exploitation.

The other dignitaries present at this occasion were Mrs. Anuradha Joshi, Vice-Chairperson of Sushila Devi Centre for Professional Studies & Research, Mr. Abhishek Joshi, the Treasurer of the Society, the hony. Director of Law College Mr. G.P. Sharma, Mrs. Beena Bahuguna and the faculty members of Law College Dehradun.
