Law College Dehradun, Faculty of Uttaranchal University, commenced the final round of the National J.A.M Competition under the banner Tropic Cascade: The Religion of Nature on 10th of June 2021 under the aegis of Vasundhara– The Green Society. The participants performed extremely well and secured their place in the final round of the competition to tackle another battle and win their position. The panel of Judges for the event included Hon’ble Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean Law College Dehradun, Dr Balakrishna Pisupati, an internationally renowned conservation and development specialist with close to three decades of experience working at national, regional, and international levels, holding positions such as the Chairperson of FLEDGE, an international think tank, Vice-Chancellor, Trans-Disciplinary University (TDU, India), Head, Biodiversity and Biotechnology programme at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF, India). He is currently managing International Environmental Governance issues at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Law Division and has advised more than 50 countries on conservation and development policy and served as an advisor to international bodies such as China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development, China, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and others and Dr Lakshmi Priya Vinjamuri, another Notable Judge, is employed in the role of legal academician and Chairperson of “Vasundhara-the Green Society” of Law College Dehradun,

Embracing the culture that marks the start of an event in our University, opening remarks were presented by Mr Rachit Chaudhary, Event Coordinator and executive member of Vasundhara– The Green Society, the dignitaries were welcomed by Ms Ishita Baghel, President of Vasundhara– The Green Society. Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, Dean, Law College Dehradun, extended a very hearty welcome to Dr Balakrishna Pisupati, and showered his greetings to Vasundhara– The Green Society for conducting such an informative competition which provides awareness among the students to study deep about the topic and represent their oratory skills, and further wished all the participants good luck for the final round. The event marked its beginning with the worthy words of Dr Balakrishna Pisupati, he said that organising such a competition is engaging the students in the current Environmental issues and is necessary to keep up growing. A great opportunity is provided to the participants to go deep into the topic, as expanding interest and studying all the elements of law is very essential. At last, he thanked the entire team of Vasundhara– The Green Society, for inviting him as a Judge. After the Preliminary round, 13 Participants were selected for the final round of the event i.e. J- 02, J- 09, J-13 J-14, J-15, J- 16, J-22, J-23, J-24, J- 25, J-26, J-27, J-33. The competition witnessed an exemplary performance of the participants.

The event concluded with the sincere reviews of our Hon’ble Judge Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna, and he mentioned that J.A.M. is a technique where immediate words are to be imparted by the participants on the topic provided to them on the spot. He praised the overwhelming points of the contestants as well as the remarkable confidence shown by them. Then, another judge Dr Balakrishna Pisupati, blessed the audience with his words, and graced the competition as an inciting and informative one. Lastly, the moderator of the session, informed the participants that the results will be announced soon on the Facebook and Instagram handles of Vasundhara– The Green Society. The National J.A.M Competition proved to be a successful and informative one and was officially ended by Ms Ishita Baghel, President of Vasundhara– The Green Society, after proposing the formal Vote of Thanks.
