Law College Dehradun celebrates ‘Ozone Day’ in collaboration with 127 Infantry Battalion (TA) Ecological, Garhwal Rifles. As a mark, an Intra-mural Debate was organized by Aarambh- The Debating Society, on 16th of September 2021, to spread awareness regarding the depletion of ozone layer. The burning topic “The race for development among developed and developing countries is responsible for depletion of Ozone layer” attracted participants with extreme environmental consciousness.
The event was marked by the benign presence of Hon’ble chief guest Brig. Mohan Singh Bisht Commandant, Military Hospital, Dehradun. Co- host Col. Rohit Srivastav, Commandant 127 Infantry Battalion, Garhwal Riffles. Guest of honour Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director of Student Affairs and I.T. services, Dignified Patron Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna Dean & officiating Vice Chancellor and Prof. (Dr.) Poonam Rawat HOD Law & officiating Principal along with an esteemed judging panel comprising of- Mr. Kumar Ashutosh H.O.D (Humanities and Languages), Ms. Smiriti Uniyal Asst. Prof. and Dr. Shikha Uniyal Gairolla Asst. Prof. A total of 10 speakers presented their debate, six in English and four in Hindi and moved the crowd with their eloquent and vibrant speeches.
The gathering was addressed by the Dean, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahugana, Co- host Col. Rohit Srivastav, Brig. Mohan Singh Bisht, Commandant at the end of the debate, where they shared their insights and also praised the debaters as well as Aarambh for organizing the celebration of World Ozone Day.
Sambhav & Shatakshi Sharma emerged as the Best Speaker in English and Hindi respectively, while Swapnil Shrivastav & Parth Singh were the runner up in English and Hindi respectively. The event concluded with the national anthem.
