International Conference on Software Technology and Engineering Modules

An International Conference on “Software Technology and Engineering Modules (STEM-2017)”  organized  by Computer Science and Engineering Department , Uttaranchal University concluded successfully on 28 April 2017.

STEM-17 International Conference was a forum to bring together the researchers, scientists, scholars and industry professionals to discuss innovative ideas and diverse topics on the next generation of technologies and services. Its aim was to provide a platform for academicians, research scholars and attendees to develop, contribute and present technical papers in engineering field. It helped in bringing together experts from the academia and industry to meet, discuss and share views and experiences on various recent technical topics and challenges of today’s world such as data mining, databases, artificial intelligence, computer networks, image processing, data security and cyber security issues and pattern recognition.

Nearly 250 papers from various International Universities like University of Southern Queensland, Australia, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom, Kiel University, Germany, Beijing University, Beijing, China and from different universities of India such as  Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow , Uttar Pradesh, IIT Roorkee, IASRI PUSA, New Delhi, Sai Nath University,  Ranchi, Jharkhand, College of Science & Engineering, Jhansi, Women Institute of Technology, Dehradun, YMCAUST, Faridabad, Integral University, Lucknow were submitted from which  hundreds of attendees, paper presenters and participants from different states have been benefited in many ways from this conference.

The dignitaries on the dais included chief guest Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Uttarakhand, Keynote speaker Prof. (Dr.) Durga Toshniwal, IIT Roorkee,  Hon’ble Chancellor Shri  Jitender Joshi, , Uttaranchal University and  Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University.

The conference started with welcoming and opening remarks of Prof. N.K.Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and continued with interactive panel of discussions, presentations and briefings on domains of interest regarding the future of Computer Science and Engineering.

The Chief Guest Dr. Rajendra Dobhal, Director General, UCOST, Department  of Science and Technology, Government of Uttarakhand, in his speech, emphasized on the importance of research in engineering disciplines. He also discussed the IPCC system which was used before the era of data mining.

The keynote speaker Prof. (Dr.) Durga Toshniwal addressed the audience and shared knowledge and experience of application of various domains of computer engineering. She enlightened the delegates about the significance and importance of data mining. She motivated the students on working on the live projects and to follow a practical approach. With the help of examples about the value of twitter , she justified how the clusters from the twitter events and data can be formed.

All accepted papers were categorized into the following categories which were presented in different sessions:

  1. Cyber security issues
  2. Big Data, Data Mining and data engineering
  3. Communication, Networking and Hardware
  4. Latest trend in ICT Applications

The conference convener of STEM-17, Prof. N.K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the organizing and steering committees to delegates, guests, presenters and attendees. Special thanks were extended to Dr. Anchit Bijlwan, Co-Convener & HOD, CSE and all the faculty members of Computer Science and Engineering who worked all together and extremely hard to prepare for this successful conference.
