Industry-Academic Meet in Uttaranchal University 10th March 2022

Industry-Academic Meet was organized by the School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS) and Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (UIPS) with an objective to explore different areas to work out possible industry-institute integrated approaches to address issues of industry, environment, and society. The event was inaugurated by the welcome of the Chancellor of the university, Shri Jitendra Joshi, Vice-chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi, Pro VC, Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, and Director student affair and IT, Prof Abhishek Joshi, and all invited experts from industries and academic & research institutes.

Prof Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS and Convenor of the meet in his address elaborated on the objective of organizing the meet. He emphasized the importance of industry-institute interaction for work collaborative research, student developmental programmes, internship, and placement. Dr Vikas Jakhmola, Director, UIPS in his address introduced different industrial experts invited and discussed the focus area in academics where the contribution of industry experts is sought and vice versa. Prof Dharam Buddhi, VC, Uttaranchal University in his address emphasized the need to have a close association between Industries and Universities. He emphasized on development & Industry-Institute forum for goal-oriented for providing opportunities to young graduates to identify, explore and pursue careers in industries.

Prof Y S Negi, IIT, Roorkee appreciated the gesture of the University to organize such an interactive event providing a platform as to how industry and institute can collaborate to work on better opportunities for students which is the need of the hour. Prof Vineet Kumar, Scientist, FRI Dehradun in his address mentioned the essential requirement of successful transfer of laboratory research to industry. He emphasized that research should not only be for academic interest but for the benefit of Society. Providing practical exposure to students. Dr Anil Singh, Director, Ved Life Savers emphasized on developing a system to make aspiring students compliances as per industry needs. He mentioned joint projects of industry and institute to make work feasible. Mr Arvind Aggarwal, HR-Head, IPCA mentioned a positive attitude and sound technical skills are key players to pursue a career in industries. He also suggested the curriculum focus on industrial training. Mr Manoj Mamgain in his interaction in the meet also emphasized the importance of attitude in the aspiring candidates and he emphasized the personality development programme for students.

Mr Madhavendra Pathak, Director, Kumud Pharmacy in his address emphasized on the balance of conceptual knowledge and technical skills. Mr Aditya Kumar Verma identified the significance of well-planned industrial visits with an initial conceptual session followed by their practical working and application in industries.

The event was coordinated by Dr Nishesh Sharma, Associate Professor Biotechnology, SALS, and Dr Amit Semwal, Associate Professor, Pharmacy. Dr Poonam Negi, Dr Sukriti Singh also participated in the event with their views.
