An Induction Programme was organized by Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal Universityon 9thSept2020 to welcome the Freshers;first-year under-graduate and post-graduate students of Management and Computer Applications Department. The induction ceremony was held online from 11a.m. onwards. The ceremony set the stage for the rich and wholesome amalgamation of inspirational motivational speeches, insights into rules and regulations and academic activities.
The Master of Ceremony, Mr. Shivendra Chaudhary, welcomed the Director UIM, Prof (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, HOD-Computer ApplicationsDepartment UIM, Dr. Sonal Sharma, faculty fraternity andthe students.
Director UIM, Prof.(Dr.) Pradeep Suri, addressed the students and motivated them through his thought-provoking messages. Dr. Suri briefed the students about the prevailing system in the University which shall help them to effectively complete their studies for future success. Emphasizing the importance of team-work, students were encouraged to utilize their strengths, competences in the extremely competitive and dynamic world. He urged them to be active players in all walks of life. Dr Suri also requested parents to help their wards become self-reliant. He wished the students success in life and career.
Thereafter, HOD- IT, Dr. Sonal Sharma, took the opportunity to introduce the faculty fraternity of UIM to the new students, thus encouraging the students to gain from the huge knowledge pool available to them. Dr. Sonal also emphasized on the significance of application of knowledge for working in the corporate and thus learn things practically using the latest technology. HOD-IT gave a practical demo on the usage of ERP platform for their online classes. She informed the students about the Bridge Course and the Value-Added Programme which shall be conducted for the UG and PG students respectively, starting from 10th Sept.
Head – Discipline Committee& Controller of Examination, Mr. A.K.S. Chauhan stressed upon the students to adopt focussed and disciplined approach in life for success. He further reiterated that learning cannot be achieved without being disciplined in their behaviour. Sir also shared the evaluation pattern with the students.
Head – Cultural Affairs, Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pathak gave a vivid explanation of various clubs and cells at UIM designed for overall development of students. He encouraged the students to actively participate in various club activities and showcase their multi-dimensional skills.
Head-Sports Committee, Mr. Farman Ali, gave details about the various games and contests organized by the institute at national, intra and inter university level. He emphasized that sports should be an integral part of life and motivated students to be competitive and collaborative.
Head – Training &Placement, Mr. Iqbal Sawhney urged the students to foresee the coming opportunities in the burgeoning Indian economy and tap them by gaining more knowledge and skill development. He also emphasized how efforts, knowledge, time management, dedication and learning will all together have a strong impact on career building.
Chief Librarian, Dr. N.C. Uniyalapprised the students about the library and ERP infrastructure at the University. He encouraged students to use Remote Access facility for enhanced and effective learning.He wished the students the very best for their further studies at the University.
The Induction program was well-designed to introduce the cohort to the institution in terms of norms and guidelines of the institution and facilitate easy adaptation to the new environment whilealso encouraging them to work towards achieving their life and career goals. The event concluded with Vote of Thanks being proposed by Master of Ceremony.
The programme was a resounding success with around 350 students attending the online session.
