‘Guards of Green Club’ of Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Uttaranchal University organized an “Online Earth Day themed Poster Making and Drawing Event” on April 22, 2020 and celebrated the 50th anniversary of Earth Day – an international event which was initiated in 1970 to highlight the need to protect our environment.

The Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic presents an unprecedented challenge to the world’s nations and has led governments to impose lockdowns and social/ physical distancing has been advised to slow down and break the chain of the spread of the virus. People are staying home and managing all their work from home. STAY AT HOME, STAY SAFE, SAVE EARTH……………

The pandemic is a stark reminder of the vulnerability of humans and the planet in the scenario of global scale threats. Nature is in crisis, threatened by biodiversity and habitat loss, global heating and toxic pollution.

The event was organized under the guidance and support of Dr. Anuj Mittal (Director – UIPS) and was coordinated by Dr. Tarun Parashar in coordination with Innovesen LMS. The motive of this event was to aware people and generate a sense of belongingness towards the earth. 90 students participated in this event and uploaded their posters. An online certificate was provided to all participants.

The event proved that lockdown cannot prevent our young minds from being creative. On the occasion of this annual event UIPS students participated with great enthusiasm and expressed their gratitude towards Mother Earth. The creative minds, through their posters/drawings, tried to spread awareness and suggest preventive measures which need to be taken in the fight against the global pandemic COVID – 19.
