Financial Literacy and Equity Trading ” Dated 23 & 24th November, 2021

Finance Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University organized an enrapturing 2-days Guest Lecture on Financial Literacy and Equity Trading ” in collaboration with Yes Securities, Delhi on 23rd & 24th November, 2021 under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Dean, UIM. 

The 2-days Guest lectures was addressed by well renowned following industry experts: 

  • Mr. Raghvendra, Regional Manager, Yes Securities, New Delhi
  • Mr. Nitin Kayat, Zonal Relationship Leader, North & East, Alliances and Partnerships at Yes Securities.
  • Mr. Rachit Aggarwal, Founder, Director & CEO- United Resourcing Services Pvt Ltd- Moradabad & Founder Director & COO- United Republic Services Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi.
  • Mr. Raj Pandey, CFA, CM, Corporate Trainer with United Resourcing Services Pvt Ltd.

Mr. Shivendra Chaudhary, Assistant Professor-UIM, Master of ceremony, started with the inauguration of 2-days Guest Lecture on the 23rd & 24th November, 202. It was graced by the key note speakers, Mr. Rachit Aggarwal, Mr. Raj Pandey, Mr. Nitin Kayat, Mr. Raghvendra along with the Dean UIM, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, HOD Management-Dr. Megha Agarwal, HOD Computer Application-Dr Sonal Sharma, Mr. Manish Badoni- Assistant Professor- UIM and Neeti Misra- Assistant Professor & Head finance club- UIM. 

The workshop was started with the Kulgeet of Uttaranchal University followed by the facilitation of the guests. Afterwards Mr. Shivendra Chaudhary has given the introduction of the guest speakers.

Then Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, Dean-UIM addressed the gathering regarding the subjected topic, after welcoming the guests he mentioned the students will get the real sense of Finance when they will earn themselves and invest it. How to earn money and get it multiplied is the toughest job. If we save our money in the bank then it will give very low rate of returns. He mentioned about various investment avenues. He explained that to invest in Bitcoin is a risky investment. After proper market analysis the equity investment will give the maximum returns. He also mentioned that the first stage to start the investment in the market is to open the DMAT accounts. He mentioned that due to online trading activities the competition is very high in the stock markets so, it is important to sense the market before investing. He has also given the little view of past trading methods with the help of Harshad Mehta web series. He emphasized about how to make money in stock markets and how markets work.

Then the session was addressed by Mr. Rachit Aggarwal, Founder, Director & CEO- United Resourcing Services Pvt Ltd- Moradabad & Founder Director & COO- United Republic Services Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. He started his session with the encouraging note for the students to invest in the financial markets. He mentioned about the investing methods of Warrenn Buffett, who had started investing in the early age of 14 with the small amount of 10 dollars only. And now he is the second richest person of the world. Then he also mentioned about the Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, the Indian investor with net worth of Rs., 590 crores USD.

The next session was delivered by Mr. Raj Pandey, CFA, CM, Corporate Trainer with United Resourcing Services Pvt Ltd who delivered on the topic “Investment in Stock market using Technical Analysis”. He also explained the various technical analysis methods and techniques like Japanese Candlestick method and other technical analysis charts.

He mentioned the importance of Financial Literacy in India. He mentioned that all of us desire to fortify our finances and achieve our financial goals, the picture is grim when it comes to financial literacy. According to estimates, only 25% of the Indian population is financial literate. This show the huge void that’s present which must be filled at the earliest. So, it’s important to make the right equity investment. Among the several equity classes, equity has the potential to deliver inflation- indexed returns in the long run. He also explained the market terms like rally, bullish market and bearish markets. He also mentioned the various market trends like uptrend, downtrend, slideway trend. With the help of website www.in.investing.com he explained how to analyze the market with the help of live charts available on the site and make the final decision of investing in the stock of upward trend.

HOD Management-Dr. Megha Agarwal addressed the post lunch session. She mentioned that it is very important to start earning at early age. Apart from our regular earning the earnings can be increased with the help of investment in the financial markets. For all these things we have to be good in financial literacy an exposure to generate more money from the small amount of their earning.

Then the session was taken by Mr. Nitin Kayat, Zonal Relationship Leader, North & East, Alliances and Partnerships at Yes Securities. He mentioned that only 19% of GDP is a part of Savings in India. Very low percentage of Indian are financially literate. They even don’t know how to invest and where to invest. He mentioned about the Vital trends supporting Future trends which will also support to make people financially literate.

Then again Mr. Raj Pandey delivered an effective and interactive session. The key note speaker elucidated in detail about volatility in the markets, risks involved and understanding the timing of the markets. He also enlightened about the various financial instruments like equities, mutual funds, insurance, bonds, government securities, fixed deposits, Gold etc. In all investment avenues the maximum returns generated are from the investment in equities. The Session was concluded with the question and answering session. 

First day session was attended by B.Com(Hons) Vth  semester & IIIrd semester and BBA Vth semester students.

The same session continued on the second day for the final year students of BSc. IT, BCA and MCA. How technical people should plan their finances that is delivered by Mr. Raj Pandey with the help of the financial planning which matches up with the inflation rate of the country. He mentioned that most of the Indians are safe investors and they used to invest in Fixed deposits and insurance policies which will in return not match up to the level of inflation. So, it was concluded that to invest in equities will give the maximum returns which in turn matches with the expected returns of the investors in future.

For both the days 470 students (day 1-390 & day 2-80) participated in the event with enthusiastic participation and also asked relevant questions from the eminent speakers.

The 2 days’ Guest Lecture concluded on positive note with the valedictory remarks presented by Mr. Shivendra Chaudhary who moderated the session over two days. Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri profusely thanked the key note speakers, participants and the coordinators of the event.
