Epiphany’, UU ELTAI Reading Club celebrated Uttarakhand Foundation Day

‘Epiphany’, UU ELTAI Reading Club celebrated Uttarakhand Foundation Day on 09.11.2022 by organising an event entitled ‘Katha-Kala’. The club decided to commemorate this day through the conduction of two events, a quiz competition and storytelling through painting. 15 teams from all the colleges of the university participated in the quiz that was based on the knowledge of Uttarakhand. Round 1 of the quiz acted as a screening round, which led to the qualification of 10 teams for participating in round 2. The following three rounds were designed to check the participants’ knowledge of the culture, history and geography of Uttarakhand. The quiz was followed by a second competition in which the participants had to bring along a painting made by them that depicted the culture of Uttarakhand. The presentation of the painting had to be followed by a story that would complement their creation. The audience witnessed the art of the students who showcased their perception of Uttarakhand through a brilliant mosaic of colours. An attempt was made to portray the famous folklores of Uttarakhand such as those of ‘Rami-Bourani’ and ‘Kafal paako, mi ni chakyo’. The audience was able to understand and became more aware of the culture of the state. The participants as well as the audience were filled with a sense of zeal as well as enthusiasm throughout the course of the event. Dr. Shravan Kumar, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts threw light on the importance of taking pride in one’s homeland and congratulated all the participants of the competitions. The entire event was managed by Dr. Anubhuti Dhyani, the coordinator of the Reading club.
