Department of Computer Science & Engineering organizes a three-day Workshop on “FOSS – 2017 – 18”

Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Uttaranchal University successfully organized a three – day “Free Open Source Software” Online Workshop from 11th to 13th April, 2018. The workshop focused on the key concepts of Computer Science and Engineering that included Training and Online Test. The participants were the students of II, III and IV year of B.Tech. (Computer Science & Engineering). 215 students participated in the Online Workshop.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Director-UIT Dr. B. Lonia & Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering Dr. Manoj Diwakar inaugurated the Workshop by cutting the ribbon. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, in his address, congratulated the Department of Computer Science & Engineering for keeping up the trend of organizing such mind opening and innovative Workshops for the students. He briefed the students regarding the significance of Free Open Source Software Workshop. He stated that it is an initiative of “Talk to Teacher” Activity, National Mission on Education through Information & Communication Technology (ICT), MHRD, Govt. of India.

Mr. Ravi Dhaundiyal, University Coordinator (FOSS) enlightened the students regarding the objective of the Workshop. He also informed about the different courses in which students can participate and learn. Few among them were Linux, LaTex, PHP & MySQL and Java. He said that the video tutorials were also available on the website of Spoken Tutorial from where the students can learn & practice.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Ravi Dhaundiyal (University FOSS Coordinator). By the end of the Workshop, 182 students were certified by “IIT – BOMBAY”.
