Children’s Day celebrated with grand splendor in Uttaranchal University

“We were all children once. We all share the desire for the wellbeing of our children, which has always been and will continue to be the most universally cherished aspiration of humankind.”

14th November – a day marking childhood. This day as we know marks the birthday of Pandit Nehru and his love for children.

Children’s Day celebrations focus on children and their enjoyment. This day is commemorated with immense joy, enthusiasm and magnificence. In Uttaranchal University it was a fun- filled day for the students. The students were taken by surprise as many events and activities were scheduled for the day. Prof.(Dr.) N.K.Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and Dr. Abhishek Joshi, Director- Student Affairs and IT Services inaugurated the program by cutting the ribbon followed by the cutting of Children’s Day Cake. All the Deans, Directors, Principals, Head of the Departments, Faculty Members and last but not the least the students were present on the occasion. The entire Uttaranchal University campus was filled with enthusiasm which echoed in the air throughout the day.

All the constituent faculties of Uttaranchal University organized varied events to celebrate Children’s Day and the students participated actively to make the day a success. The day witnessed a host of events like cultural events (including singing and dancing competition), Quiz, Sketching Competition (Theme – “Colour Sketch of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru”), Logo Designing Competition, to name a few.

The students and faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering endeavored to make this Children’s Day special and memorable for the underprivileged students of nearby primary school and slum area. Guided by the spirit of the saying “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone” the department made a humble effort and distributed education facilitating packets consisting copies, writing materials and snacks to the school going primary students of the nearby village and slum dwelling children.

The day concluded with the theme “With love from teachers to students”.
