As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it brings along with it a cause for celebration, a reason to pause & re-evaluate, an inspiration and a time to feel honoured, loved & admired. To honour womanhood, Womken Cell, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun along with Committee for Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women Employees and Students in association with UUIEEE Student Chapter Uttaranchal University organized a webinar on Breast Cancer Awareness on Thursday 21st October, 2021.
The Webinar was organized in virtual mode through MS Teams, in Vivekanand Auditorium. The guest speaker for the occasion was Dr Sonia Tiwari, Consultant Oncologist, Kamla Nehru Hospital, Allahabad. The guest speaker was arranged by UUIEEE Senior Member Dr Meenakshi Memoria.
Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola, Chairperson, Women Cell & ICC, gave a brief introduction of Guest Speaker, Dr Sonia Tiwari, Consultant Oncologist, Kamla Nehru Hospital, Allahabad.
Dr Sonia Tiwari’ deliberations opened the horizons for various aspects of Breast Cancer, including self-checkup, diagnostic techniques, treatment and myths associated with breast cancer. She had an interactive session with the students and faculty. She also answered all the queries raised by the participants.
A large number of faculty members and girl students of various colleges of Uttaranchal University participated in the event.
Prof (Dr) Poonam Rawat, HOD, Law College Dehradun and former Chairperson of Women Cell graced the occasion with her benign presence. Prof (Dr) Sonal Sharma, HOD, Computer Application, UIM, shared her experience of being a breast cancer survivor with all the participants.
The programme was organized by Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola, Chairperson Women Cell & ICC with the help of Member Secretary of Women Cell & ICC Mrs Arti Rana and Dr Himani Maheshwari, respectively along with Mr Shubham, coordinator of the Vivekananda Auditorium.
