A team building activity titled Paper Tower was organized by Uttaranchal Institute of Management, Uttaranchal University on 23rd September, 2021 for students of BSc IT I Semester under Orientation week.
This team building activity was easy to execute but it got students to think strategically. The students were divided into small groups of 5 to 6 people. Few old Newspapers and a roll of transparent adhesive tape were distributed to each team. Each team was instructed to construct the tallest, free-standing tower. They were given 30 minutes for planning and construction of the Paper Tower. This activity gave lessons of team building and the importance of thinking ahead while also promoting a bit of friendly competition.
The activity proved to be a great learning experience for new students as it acted like a quick icebreaker, and helped them acquire team building skills like Communication, Strategic Thinking, Decision Making, Cooperation, Leadership and Team Cohesion. Winning team and First Runner-up team were awarded with Chocolates by Dr Sonal Sharma, HOD, Computer Applications. Students were happy and expressed their gratitude towards the management for conducting educational activities beyond academics to enhance their overall skills.
