A special virtual session on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Training was organized by Women Cell, SALS on 21st September 2021. Research Associate, Vidya R of Global Hunt Foundation, Bangalore conducted a virtual session for the girl students of SALS. The virtual session was conducted in the Seminar Hall of SALS through MS Teams.

Prof (Dr) Bharti Ramola gave a warm welcome to members of Global Hunt Foundation and the speaker Ms Ankita Sukhwal. Global Hunt Foundation has a number of branches across the globe and is a not-for-profit organization, registered under The Indian Companies Act 1956. A session on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Training was conducted by their corporate client Unicharm India. Unicharm India has conducted menstrual hygiene training for girls in various schools/colleges across India, under the CSR initiatives of the company. Unicharm India is a leading Japanese firm in India, existing in the market with the names of Sofy and Mamypoko pants.

The session was very informative for the girls which gave them a comprehensive understanding on the what, why and how of menstruation. It consisted of the meaning of menstruation, developing biological understanding, related social taboos and awareness regarding hygiene practices to be maintained during menstruation. At the end of the session all the queries of the students were satisfied by Ms Ankita Sukwal.

The session was anchored by Dr Sukriti Singh. Prof (Dr) Poonam Negi, Dr Indra Rautela, Dr Reshu, Dr Debanjali Roy, Ms Arshi Siddiqui, Dr Shalu Chaudhary, Dr Deepa and all the girls of SALS were present and contributed in organizing the session. Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean-SALS, who played an instrumental role in bringing in the Resource person, was pleased by the efforts of members of Women Cell, SALS for organizing the virtual session.
