A one-day Educational Tour to Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Doiwala (Dehradun) was organized by Department of Chemistry, School of Applied & Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun, for the students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry, M.Sc. Chemistry & M.Sc. Industrial Chemistry on 13th February, 2021. The tour was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Dean – School of Applied & Life Sciences. Dr. Waseem Ahmed (Coordinator for Educational Tours – SALS) and Ms. Sukhdeep Kaur (Coordinator- M.Sc.) accompanied the Dean with students.
The main objective of this educational tour was to enhance the knowledge of the students regarding various Polymer Processing Techniques and provide information regarding the career aspects in plastic industries. This visit was also organized as a part of Entrepreneurship Awareness Program on Injection Molding Process Technology and was organized with CIPET-Dehradun, for which theoretical part was covered through online classes and practical part was completed through offline presence in CIPET Labs. This visit and Entrepreneurship Awareness Program were activities concerned with the mutual collaboration between Uttaranchal University and CIPET.
Initiatives for skill enhancement of students were taken with the efforts of Dr. Ajay Singh, Dean-SALS and Mr. N.K.Gupta ,Director – CIPET. Mr Abhishek Rajwansh, Dy.Director of CIPET facilitated the visit for the faculty and the students of Uttaranchal University.
Mr. Brijesh Kumar Singh, Training In-charge of CIPET, accorded a warm welcome and briefed about the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIEPT) – an organization of Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals Ministry of Chemicals & fertilizers, Govt. of India. He described the objectives of the training programme being conducted by CIPET.
Mr. Sameer Sharma, Technical Officer, delivered a short presentation about the various departments and their functioning of CIPET.
Dr. Ajay Singh (Dean-SALS) delivered a talk on importance of polymer composites and applications and at the end he thanked Director, Dy. Director and other staff members for their arrangement. After the presentation session the group visited different sections of CIPET and witnessed the practical implications of their theoretical knowledge about polymer processing.
This educational tour provided a great learning experience on technical front of polymer and plastic processing and technology. Students visited Raw Material Section, Processing Workshops and Testing Labs to attain a thorough exposure of industrial process of Polymer and Plastic Technology. CIPET provided lunch and snacks to staff and students.
The students extended their gratitude towards Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Devendra Pathak and Dean – SALS Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh for their kind consent and providing bus facility and the required support for the visit.
