Uttaranchal College of Applied and Life Sciences conducts a Workshop on ‘Real Life Application of Mathematics in Science and Technology’

‘Workshop on Real Life Application of Mathematics in Science and Technology’ was organized by Department of Mathematics, Uttaranchal College of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University on 23th November 2018. About 98 students participated in this workshop. The main objective of this one day workshop was to promote the real life applications of mathematics in various fields of engineering & technology.

The event proceeded with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh (Principal, UCALS), Dr. V.K. Srivastava, Dr. U.S. Rana and Dr. Jai Pal Singh.

Dr. V.K. Srivastava (Head, Department of Mathematics) welcomed the dignitaries including Dr. U.S. Rana (Associate Professor, DAV PG College, Dehradun), Dr. Jai Pal Singh (Associate Professor, DBS PG College, Dehradun) and introduced the guests to the students. He emphasized upon the importance of conducting such events for the students.

Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh (Principal, UCALS) motivated the students and advised them to explore the applications of mathematics in daily life and also encouraged the students to participate actively in such activities.

Experts initiated presentations on real life applications of mathematics in various fields of engineering & technology. They imparted the working knowledge of different tools and techniques of mathematics in applied science & engineering. According to experts Science and mathematics are parts of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, multi-dimensional strategy that can effectively sustain our twenty-first century knowledge-based economy. In this workshop, students focus on how to apply science and mathematics concepts to the development of plans, processes, and projects that address real world problems, including sustainability and “green” technologies. This workshop also highlights how science and mathematics and the applications of STEM will be impacted due to the development of a greener economy.

 The seminar turned out to be a huge success with active support of Dr. Mohit Kumar, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. M.K. Sharma, Dr. Shalu Chaudhary, Mr. Atma Nand and Ms. Dipika Saxena.
