Department of Food Technology, SALS organized a workshop on food entrepreneurship on 7 September 2022 during National nutrition week. Every year the first week of September, has been celebrated as National nutrition week in the country with the aim of providing knowledge about nutrition, healthy lifestyles and eating habits. The theme of national nutrition week this year is ‘celebrate a world of flavours’ with a motive to encourage all the flavours used in different cuisines all around the world. On this occasion workshop cum food stalls were inaugurated by Shri Jitender Joshi, Chancellor, Uttaranchal University, Prof (Dr) Satbir Singh Sehgal, Vice President, Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Vice-Chancellor, Prof (Dr) Abhishek Joshi, Director, SA & IT, Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS, Dr Rajeev Kumar, HoD, Food Technology by lighting lamp.
More than seventy-five students participated in the food stall competition by displaying food stalls. All stalls were based on nutritionally based themes in which dishes of various states like Northeast dishes, Kerala dishes, Andhra Pradesh dishes, Punjabi and Chinese dishes. Karan Arora, Radha Khirwar, and Susmita Nama Das, M.Sc. Food Technology, 3rd Semester students were rewarded as winners of the event. Himanko Gogoi, B.Pharma, 1st semester declared as the first runner up and Ayushi Bhaduri, Suporna Chakraborty, and Tamanna Rana B.Sc. (H) Food Technology, 5th Semester got the second runner up position in the event.
The event was coordinated by Dr Rajeev Kumar, HoD, Dr Arun Gupta, Mr Yogesh Awasthi, Mr Kamran Chaudhary, Mr Junaid Aman, Ms Anuska Pallavi under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Ajay Singh, Dean, SALS. More than fifty faculty members including Dr V K Srivastava, Dr Nishesh Sharma, Dr Bharti Ramola, Dr Waseem Ahmed, Dr Amit Bhatt, Campus Director were present on this occasion. Students actively participated in the event and showed interest in the promotion of entrepreneurship through nutritional foods.
