Department of Hotel Management, Uttaranchal University, organized a Webinar on “Post COVID-19 New Norms in Hospitality Industry” on 15th July, 2020 on Zoom Platform hosted by Mr. Surendra Singh Bhakuni (Faculty -Department of Hotel Management). The purpose of the Webinar was to brainstorm on how the hospitality industry will operate post Covid-19.
Mr. Tushar Abrol, Learning and Development Manager, Taj Group of Hotels joined the Webinar as the Keynote Speaker. Mr. Abrol shared his expert opinion on the future of hospitality industry post COVID-19.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor – Uttaranchal University, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna, inaugurated the Webinar. In his Inaugural Speech Hon’ble Vice Chancellor explained how the outbreak of the corona virus has caused problems in the functioning of all countries of the world. Health, medicine, education, industries, economy, etc. are all affected badly. Hospitality industry is among one of the badly affected industries. He stated how important it is to overcome new challenges and define a “new dimension” in dealing with the situations arising out of COVID-19.
Mr. Surendra Singh Bhakuni introduced and welcomed the distinguished guest and Keynote Speaker, Mr. Tushar Abrol, Learning and Development Manager, Taj Group of Hotels. The Expert Speaker shared his views and opinions on COVID-19 pandemic, which has made a global impact and continues to hit most of the sectors, with hotels being one of the most affected. Mr. Abrol also talked in detail about the new norms in form of new SOP’s that are being adopted or to be adopted by hotels. He explained all this by putting forth a presentation describing the new norms in hotels, with a special focus on the changes adopted post COVID-19.
The session advanced with Mr. Manish Badoni,HOD, Department of Hotel Management, sharing his views and opinions on the topic. He started with India having the first case of COVID-19, which was on 30th January 2020, and the consequent nationwide lockdown by the government. The rise in COVID-19 cases in India and the effect of the same on the Indian economy and industries, focusing on the hospitality industry, one of the most badly affected industries worldwide.
The latter half of the event had the Keynote Speaker (Mr. Tushar Abrol) taking up doubts and queries of the participants. A diverse audience comprising students, professionals and academicians from all over India and abroad were present. Mr. Abrol answered all the questions asked by the participants.
The Webinar concluded with a Vote of Thanks to both the Keynote Speaker and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor by the HODof the Department of Hotel Management Mr. Manish Badoni.
