Vishwakarma Day Celebration in Mechanical Department

Vishwakarma Day is celebrated to worship Lord Vishwakarma. Vishwakarma is known to be the divine engineer since the Puranic age. As a mark of reverence he is worshipped not only by the engineering and architectural community, but also by all professionals. On this day, artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, smiths, welders, industrial workers, factory workers, and workers of all kinds worship Lord Vishwakarma and pray for a better future, safe working conditions, and above all success in their respective fields.

Vishwakarma Day was celebrated on 16th September, 2017 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University with great fervor. We organized Vishwakarma Puja. The Puja was attended by Hon’ble Chancellor, Shri Jitender Joshi, Hon’ble Vice-Chairperson, Smt. Anuradha Joshi, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Dean-Engineering, Prof. (Dr.) Badhai Lonia, HOD- Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Sanjeev Joshi, faculty, staff and students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The Puja was performed by Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi & Vice-Chairperson Smt. Anuradha Joshi in the College Workshop followed by Aarti. In the end ‘prasad’ was distributed among the students and staff.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Chancellor Sir explained the significance of the day especially for the young engineering students.
