Dr Tarsame S Masa Singh from the English Studies Department, Institute of Teacher Education, Penang, Malaysia was the guest speaker for the 8th session of the International Lecture Series, organized by the School of Liberal Arts in collaboration with ELTAI. The online session was held on 31 August 2022 and the theme was “Amplifying your “voice” in writing.”
The need to learn to use writing as a powerful tool to break the silence and transform the world was the crux of the session. Dr Singh highlighted the importance of the word “I” and how it affects the meaning and essence of the sentences. He also talked about paraphrasing and rephrasing and gave tips on how to use someone else’s work ethically.
The session was indeed informative and at the end, The Dean, SLA, Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, encouraged the faculty members to “amplify” their “voices” in writing. The entire session was tremendously coordinated by Ms Shilpi Prakash and it concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the moderator of the session, Mr Saneet Kumar.
