Uttaranchal Yuva Fest is the most awaited event that is conducted yearly by Uttaranchal University. Students eagerly wait for the dates of the fest to be revealed. This year the fest was divided into two phases. The first phase included all field events under the heads of cultural, literary, fun games and various sports events. The second phase of the Fest will be held in April along with Celebrity Night.

In order to know their strength and improve their performance, education along with creativity plays a major role in the life of a student. The basic aim of such events is to develop leadership and team spirit amongst the students.

The Fest was scheduled on 8th and 9th of March, 2019. The event was declared open by Hon’ble Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, Shri. Jitender Joshi, Vice- Chairperson Mrs. Anuradha Joshi, Vice- Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi and Director-Student Affairs and IT Services Dr. Abhishek Joshi by releasing balloons. The dignitaries were welcomed by Dr. Bharti Ramola Head, Cultural Committee, Uttaranchal University, Mr. Tarun Jatolian Coordinator- Sports Committee, Uttaranchal University and Coordinators of Cultural Committee of the constituent colleges of Uttaranchal University.

A number of events were organized to make the Fest a grand one. The cultural events were allotted to different colleges for best possible display on the final days. The entire Fest was coordinated by Dr. Bharti Ramola Head, Cultural Committee, Uttaranchal University, who was responsible for invitation, designing of venue, Event Schedule, banners for all the events and event management. The banners were made by students of Uttaranchal University namely, Tamen Dutta, Chirag Garg, Satyam Anand and Avi Naman under the guidance of Dr. Bharti Ramola and Ms. Sumita Lamba.

The students of MCS along with Mr. Dheeraj Bisht, Official Photographer of the University were given the charge of shooting and clicking photographs of the entire event.

The first event was the Photography Exhibition which displayed the photography skills of the students of Uttaranchal University. The program was conducted by MCS and coordinated by Ms. Smriti Uniyal. The judge for the event was renowned photographer of Dehradun Mr. Devraj. The photographs were displayed in the Photo Gallery of MCS.

Welcome Dance was performed beautifully by the students of north-east. This was followed by War of Bands, Singing and Dancing by the students. The mob flash was conducted for both the days and was immensely enjoyed by the students. The event was coordinated by Mr. Amit Kumar Sharma (UIT), who did a commendable job of managing band, singing and dancing with the help of Student Coordinators of various Clubs of Uttaranchal University, namely Keshav, Vasunsdhara, Nitesh, Aarohi, Hirdiyesh and Nishchay.

Rangoli Competition was a viewer’s delight as students made beautiful Rangolis depicting ‘Festivals of India’. The event was coordinated by Dr. Geeta Gaur (SOA) with the help of Student Coordinators Mary Mathew and Vinod Thapliyal. The jury comprised of Mrs. Anuradha Joshi- Vice Chairperson, Uttaranchal University, Dr. Vandana Joshi, Joint Registrar, Uttaranchal University and Dr. Poonam Rawat HOD (LCD).

The Food Stalls were a major center of attraction where the students displayed their culinary skills. The event was coordinated by Mr. Hitendra Singh of HM. The stalls were put up for the two days and all faculty members, staff and students relished the various food items prepared by the students of various colleges of Uttaranchal University.

LAN Games, NFS and Counter Strike-GO were organized on 8th and 9th March 2019, to create more opportunities for gamers to meet similar gamers. The event was coordinated by Ms. Sumita Lamba (UIT). BMI was also calculated for all interested candidates. The event was coordinated by Ms. Jyotsna Suyal (UIPS).
Debate was held in the Seminar Hall of LCD. The topic of Debate Competition was ‘Freedom of Speech fails its own purpose- more misused than used.’ Two teams of English and Hindi were invited from each college. The jury comprised of Ms. Bhuvaneswari (LCD), Mr. Ankur Sharma and Mr. Sudhir Jugran (UIT). The event was coordinated by Dr. Prabha Lama with Chairperson of Debating Society-LCD Mr. Amit Chaudhary along with Student Coordinators of Debating Society.

Ikebana/ Flower Arrangement and Face Painting were the highlights of the second day of the Fest. Two teams of five members each participated in Ikebana from all the constituent colleges. Beautiful arrangements of flowers were displayed and were well appreciated by one and all. The judges for the event were Dr. Vandana Joshi- Joint Registrar, Uttaranchal University, Dr. Sonal Sharma HOD-IT (UIM) and Ms. Shivani Pande (UIT). Face Painting also saw enthusiastic participants who created themes of their own choice. The judges for the event were Dr. Abhshek Joshi, Director-Student Affairs & IT Services, Dr. Vandana Joshi – Joint Registrar Uttaranchal University and Dr. B.S. Rawat HOD-Physics (SALS). The event was coordinated by Dr. Poonam Negi (SALS).

Picture Perception was conducted to showcase the literary and imaginary skills of the students. The event was coordinated by Dr. Prabha Lama (LCD) with the help of Student Coordinator Chanchal. The Judges were Dr. Prabha Lama and Dr. Madhu Arora.

Painting and Sketching Exhibition was the next major event of the day. The students used various forms of art in Painting like water colors, crayons, pastel colors, spray paint, etc. A large number of students participated in both the events. Paintings were based on the theme ‘Natural Landscape’ and the creations of students were worth watching. The judges had a tough time choosing the winner. The judges for the event were: Mr. N.C. Uniyal, Chief Librarian, Uttaranchal University, Dr. Poonam Rawat, HOD (LCD) and Dr. Shuchi Upadhayay, HOD Food Technology (SALS). The Sketching Competition also saw wonderful creations of the students. The Judges for the event were Mr. N.C. Uniyal, Chief Librarian, Uttaranchal University, Dr. Poonam Rawat, HOD (LCD) and Mr. Sudhir Jugran (UIT).

Nukkad Natak was the next most awaited event where the students displayed their acting skills on the topic- ‘Evils of Street Begging’. It was a tough fight between the colleges. The event was judged by Mr. Abhshek Maindola, the renowned theatre artist of Doon. The event was coordinated by Ms. Jyotsna Suyal (UIPS).

Fun Games and Kite Flying were two fun events coordinated by Ms. Reetu Naudiyal. Three legged race, sac race and bursting the balloons were organized and the winners were given gift hampers.

The Fest was thoroughly enjoyed by the students of Uttaranchal University. They are now eagerly waiting for the second phase comprising of Celebrity Night and Cultural Events, Dancing, Singing & Modeling.
