NSS Wing of Uttaranchal University observes ‘Anti-Terrorism Day’

Like every year 21st May, was observed as Anti-Terrorism Day by Uttaranchal University. This day is celebrated in the memory of former Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated by a human bomber while he was addressing a rally in Tamilnadu. The purpose of celebrating this day by the University is to make our young learners aware against the various menaces of terrorism and to discourage the youth from any such activities.

This year “Anti-Terrorism Day” was celebrated on 21st May 2017 in all the colleges of Uttaranchal University with full active support and coordination of NSS unit of the University. Several activities such as debate competitions, essay writing competition, and pledge taking ceremonies were organized.

Many members of the teaching and non-teaching staff gathered for the purpose of taking oath against the propagation of such values and thoughts that would support violence, intolerance and terrorism in any of its forms.

It saw an unprecedented participation of more than 50 students who not only expressed their views in the debates and denounced bigotry and fanaticism but also supported more employment and education initiatives for the youth of the nation to keep them in the mainstream of country.

Speaking on this occasion the Hon’ble Chancellor of the University said that education is the only way to address the problems of the youth and he also affirmed the solidarity with the armed forces of the nation in curbing terrorism from all parts of the country.
