Uttaranchal University celebrates Constitution Day with Mega Blood Bank

Uttaranchal University observed Constitution Day with great fervor and zeal. The hall mark of the event was the organization of Mega Blood Donation camp. This camp is organized every year on the National Law Day. Multitudes of students lined up to register themselves for donating blood and displayed great enthusiasm for blood donation. Keeping in view the enthusiasm of students for blood donation , adequate arrangements were made to ensure that fifty students could donate blood simultaneously. 547 Units of Blood  were collected.

The camp was organized in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society.  The blood banks of Mehant Indiresh Hospital, I.M.A and Doon Hospital collected the blood.

Hon’ble  Minister of Law and Justice, Mr.  Dinesh Aggarwal was the chief guest at this occasion and   President of Uttarakhand Red Cross Society and Ex-M.L.A. Mr.  Ranjit Singh Verma was the special guest. The Chief Guest felicitated the Legal Aid and Awareness Cell of Law College that has been successfully organizing the event since eight years.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the Law College Dehradun, Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna said that the Constitution Day is the right occasion to take a solemn vow to fulfill the dreams of the architects of the Indian Constitution. He maintained that by donating blood in this special day, we can be the part of the fundamental sentiments of our Constitution.

Hon’ble Chancellor of the University – Sh. Jitendra Joshi,  said in his address , that the organization of blood donation camps and legal awareness camps are aimed  at motivating  the students towards social works. He said that it is necessary to be a socially committed to become a successful in life.

The Chief Guest  hon’ble minister Mr. Dinesh Aggarwal, expressed his appreciation to  the students for organizing the event and meticulously executing the entire proceedings of the event He said that blood donation is the best humanitarian contribution that  an individual can make  for the society. He exhorted the students to stay away from drugs and harmful substances and work hard to fulfill the dreams of their parents.

The General Secretary of the Red Cross Society Dr. I. S. Pal also addressed the students. Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. (Dr.) S. C. Joshi, proposed the vote of thanks to the dignitaries. On this occasion, the print, wall and web journal of ‘Dehradun Law Review’ were also released by the dignitaries.

The other distinguished persons  present at the occasion were Mr. G.P. Sharma, Mrs Anuradha Joshi, Mr. Rajiv Sharma, Dr. Abhishek Joshi, S. C. Sharma, Jagdish Joshi, Dr. Pradeep Suri,  Dr. Ansari, Dr. Raj Dhar,  Dr. Poonam Rawat,  Dr. Prabha Lama,   Mr. Vijay Bhardwaj,  Mr. Kamal,  Mr. Ravi Bisht, , Kumar Ashutosh,  Mr. Anjum Parvez, Mr. Pramod Tiwari, Dr. Digvijay Singh, Mr. S. S. Islam, Mr. Vijay Srivastava and hundreds of students.

On the eve of constitution Day many programs were organized which included symposium on the lives and work ethics of Constitution makers including Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, writing of research papers on legal matters and interactive session on the Making of the Constitution.
