NSS Wing of Uttaranchal University celebrates “National Youth Day”

India celebrates National Youth Day on January 12. This date was chosen to honor the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s greatest spiritual and social leader. He saw hope for the future in every child and believed that with “muscles of iron” and “nerves of steel” they could bring about social change. Swami Ji himself personified the eternal energy of the youth and a restless quest for truth. Today, almost 50 percent of India’s population is under the age of 25. The future of the country depends on youth generation. This spirit of youth was celebrated by Uttaranchal University on January 12, 2018 with extreme fervor. The National Youth Day was observed with processions, speeches, recitations, music, youth conventions, seminars, Yogasanas, presentations, competitions in essay-writing, recitations and sports.

Uttaranchal University celebrated this day especially through observing this day as Sports day. The NSS volunteers came forward to organize various sport activities that were both outdoor and indoor. This gave the students not only a refreshing break from the routine but also made them physically and mentally fit. All the sport events were organized under the aegis of National Service Scheme and a big number of students took part in this sport extravaganza.

To conclude the day long celebrations, the Head of NSS expressed his firm belief that character building of the teachings of Swami Vivekananda was surely the answer, it will help the energetic youth to achieve success which will eventually lead to the growth of the nation as well.
