Makar Sankranti was celebrated in Uttaranchal University by organizing ‘Kite Flying’ on 15th January, 2019 to pay obeisance to Sun God who is regarded as Surya (also known as Aditya). Sun is the source of all life. He is the supreme soul who brings light and warmth to the world. There is a tradition of flying kites on the day of Makar Sankranti and the festival is also known as ‘Kite Festival’.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi and Director – Student Affairs and IT Services Dr. Abhishek Joshi graced the occasion with their benign presence. The students of all the constituent colleges of Uttaranchal University participated in the event.
The event was organized by Dr. Bharti Ramola Head- Cultural & Events, Uttaranchal University with Cultural Coordinators of Constituent Colleges, namely, Dr. Poonam Negi (SALS), Mr. Ravinder Singh Rawat (UIM), Mr. Abhishek Kumar Pathak (UIM), Dr. Geeta Gaur (SOA) , Ms. Kanchan Anand (LCD), Ms. Smriti Uniyal (MCS) and Dr. Reeta Rautela (SLA). A large number of students and faculty members were also present.
