Uttaranchal University was awarded ‘Excellence in Research & Innovation’ in the Award Ceremony of “Shiksha Shikhar Samman – 2020” wherein Hindustan acknowledged the contribution of Top Universities in the field of education on 24th June, 2020.
Hindustan conferred “Shiksha Shikhar Samman – 2020” with an aim to recognize the outstanding contribution made in the field of education by top universities. “Hindustan Shiksha Shikhar Samman – 2020” intended to accord recognition, based on important parameters, to the Higher Educational Institutions and create awareness among aspiring students and their parents. The awards will surely help the students & their parents, seeking admission in these colleges, in making an effective choice.
Through this initiative, the top universities were evaluated on important parameters that have direct impact on the quality of education. All the participating Universities were evaluated and awarded on the basis of various criteria such as excellence in infrastructure, sports activities, presentation of courses, faculty-student ratio, digital technology usage, faculty members’ qualifications, student achievement and work opportunities. Other key criteria, which aim towards providing avenues through which students are exposed to all-round developmental experience – such as soft skills & personality development, online & professional courses, CSR activities, women’s welfare and conservation, research and innovation and alumni interface, were also judged.
The winners were also finalized on the basis of a survey by market research agency Vox Populi, which collected data both under the qualitative and quantitative heads. Vox Populi collected data from universities and then conducted an online survey based on the opinions of students, parents and alumni for the verification of the same. The data compiled was then examined using secondary sources for the process of quality control and by accessing the information available in the public domain. Finally, a score card was created and each parameter was weighted to arrive at the final decision.
The eminent jury constituted by Hindustan to decide the winners of the “Shiksha Shikhar Samman – 2020” included renowned educationists, namely, Dr. Harivansh Chaturvedi, Dr. Girish Chandra Saxena and Mr. Prasanna Hota. Dr. Chaturvedi is Director at BIMTECH (Birla Institute of Management Technology), Greater Noida and has 42 years of experience in teaching, research and educational administration. The second member of the jury, Dr. Saxena, has over 38 years of experience of teaching postgraduate and graduate classes and is currently Member of the Executive Council of Mahatma Gandhi Central University (Bihar), Syndicate Calcutta University (Kolkata) and Court BHU (Varanasi). Mr. Prasanna Hota has served as Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health and Welfare and has 44 years of experience in Public Administration, Health, Urban Development, Project Management, Reorganization of Public Sector and Privatization.
