An Industrial Visit to TechMahindra, IT Park, Chandigarh was organized on 2nd November 2017 for the students pursuing B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering. The objective of the visit was to familiarize them with various business transformations, business process consulting, communication, Information Technology (IT) & operational excellence and the emerging trends in the field of IT industry.
The visit to this division of Mahindra Group was scheduled to provide the students with an overview of the computer technologies used in the IT industry. For this purpose, Mr. Satish Kumar (HR) from Tech Mahindra gave a presentation about their company followed by a brief preview of computing and information technologies and the emerging trends in the field of computing and customer centric IT experiences. He also explained the effect and impact of GST and demonetization on IT industry. Examples were given at each point so that the students could grasp the basic idea properly. After the one-hour presentation session the students were taken out for a brief tour of the various sections. Students were elated to visit a company where they could see varied tasks being performed before them. The campus was well-maintained with very good working and hygienic conditions. The concluding part comprised of a discussion session with the students.
Industrial Visits supplement and enrich classroom learning and encourage new interests amongst students, it also makes them aware of the community resources and helps them relate their educational experience to the outside world. Real-life exposure ensures that the students gain a practical insight into industry operations in their respective areas of specialization.
