Uttaranchal Institute of Technology organizes a Guest Lecture on “Role of Sanitation in Behavior Change for Health and Hygiene”

Uttaranchal Institute of Technology, Uttaranchal University organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Role of Sanitation in Behaviour Change for Health and Hygiene” on 22nd February, 2020 for the students pursuing B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes.

The Resource Person was Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, Consultant – KRC, National Centre of Good Governance, Mussoorie, District Dehradun, UK.

The event initiated with the felicitation of the Resource Person Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Minakshi Memoria (HOD- CSE), Mr. Himanshu Goel (HOD- B.Tech. Ist Year) and faculty members of UIT. Master of Ceremony, Dr. Minakshi Memoria welcomed all the dignitaries, Faculty Members and students. She introduced the topic of the day along with some crucial characteristics of sanitation and personal hygiene related practices in our daily lives.

Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi delivered the Inaugural Address and highlighted the importance of Sanitation and Hygiene. He ignited a spark in all the students by throwing common questions related to hygiene; broke the myths concerned with cleanliness in the surroundings. He also emphasized on the responsibility of each individual to participate in cleanliness of work place, home, locality and city as well.

After the Inaugural Address, Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra began to deliver his enlightening content and interacted soulfully with students whom he regarded as the future of the nation. He aimed to develop an interest in them to create a clean, disease free, healthy nation. Dr. Mishra ardently emphasized on the 5 Fs of field sanitation and provided the panacea to deal with the repercussions. He demonstrated some of the good practices that one should follow to stay clean and healthy.

Moreover, he touched the multifaceted dimensions (historical, social and psychological etc.) related to hygiene and sanitation such as balanced and nutritious food, value and benefits of good health, availability of clean water and methods to retrieve it from the bad one etc.

The event was successfully concluded with Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Minakshi Memoria. This Guest Lecture turned out to be a huge success with the support of Mr. Somil Kumar Gupta (Event Coordinator- CSE), Mr. Ravi Dhaundhiyal (Assistant Professor- CSE).
