Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences organizes an ‘Awareness Campaign’ in observance of “World AIDS Day 2018”

Awareness Campaign - World AIDS Day-UIPS

“World AIDS Day” was celebrated by Uttaranchal Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences on 1st December to raise public awareness about AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome). AIDS is a pandemic disease caused due to the infection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

World AIDS Day is observed on December 1 every year to create awareness about the symptoms, causes and preventives of the pandemic disease HIV/AIDS that has taken unprecedented number of lives.

All the students participated in the campaign and gathered at the UIPS building at 9:30 AM along with the Faculty Members. They carried red ribbons and enchanted slogans with the aim to raise awareness about AIDS. The students then proceeded towards the Main Gate, Administrative Block, Library, Cafeteria, Food Court and Gate No. 2 where the students distributed and pinned red ribbons to all the students, Faculty Members, Guards and other employees in the University. More than 2000 red ribbons were distributed in the university campus as wearing a red ribbon is a best way to raise awareness about AIDS and convince people not to discriminate with people living with HIV.

Hon’ble Chancellor Mr. Jitender Joshi appreciated the campaign team who voluntarily participated in this noble deed.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi admired the effort of the department for actively participating in spreading awareness and shared his belief that future generation has the ability to sensitize others and prevent spread of HIV.
