Uttaranchal Institute of Management organizes Shram Daan Activity

Intending to inculcate environmental sensitivity among the young students, the Globe Club of Uttaranchal Institute of Management carried out a cleanliness drive in the form of “Shram Daan” on December 18, 2021. The drive was conducted in the riverbed near Nanda ki Chowki, Premnagar, and was executed in collaboration with ‘Jai-Youth Wing Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti’ with the active support of Shri Vinayak Sharma, President, Jai-Youth Wing Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Sewa Samiti and his team members.

More than 100 student volunteers from different programs of UIM, Uttaranchal University contributed to this activity with huge enthusiasm by clearing the litter and debris lying around near the riverbank. They collected a substantial amount of garbage including plastic bottles, leftover food items, old clothes, empty wrappers, and polythene bags, which were either being dumped in the riverbank by nearby communities or came along the flow of the river. The volunteers also educated the people residing nearby the riverbed to avoid throwing garbage and litter in the area. The activity ignited the feeling of responsibility towards our environment and its valuable water resources among our enthusiastic volunteers, who also vowed to be a part of such events in the future as well.
