Uttaranchal Institute of Management organized an ‘Induction Programme’ on 27th August, 2019 to welcome the Fresher students of Management and Computer Applications Department.
The Master of Ceremony, Dr. Amitabh Bhargava, welcomed all the dignitaries, Faculty Members, Administrative Staff and the new students. At the outset Prof. (Dr.) N. K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, felicitated Hon’ble Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, Shri Jitender Joshi. Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri (Director-UIM), Dr. Anshul Sharma(HOD-Management), Faculty Members (UIM), Chief Librarian Dr. N. C. Uniyal, Mr. K. B. Pokhriyal (COE) and Mr. Iqbal Singh (Head -Training &Placement Cell) were present in the programme. Thereafter, the dignitaries were invited for the auspicious Lamp Lighting Ceremony.
Hon’ble Chancellor, Shri Jitender Joshi, welcomed the students and encouraged them to utilize their time towards gaining as much knowledge as possible. He also stressed upon the fact that with the dedicated faculty team of the institute the students must try to make the most of the opportunities available to them.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, stressed upon the importance of setting goals in life and being focused in achieving the same. He told the students that apart from books in the libraries, our university also has a virtual digital library for their benefit.
Director-UIM, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri, addressed the students by emphasizing on the importance of punctuality and maintaining the required attendance in order to become eligible for appearing in internal and external examinations. He also motivated the students to put in sincere and dedicated efforts towards achieving their goals. He further informed the students that our university has set up an Incubation Centre for start-ups by students and also that the approved ideas for start-ups will be funded by the University. Thereafter, Dr. Anshul Sharma, introduced all the faculty members to the new students and encouraged them to gain from the pool of knowledge at their disposal.
Mr. A.K.S. Chauhan (Head – Discipline Committee) reiterated the need for maintaining discipline and also warned the students against indulging in any untoward activities within the campus and behave as responsible students.
Mr. Ravindra S. Rawat (Head- Cultural & Academic Events) informed the students about the various academic and non academic clubs, designed for overall development of students. He also encouraged the students to actively participate in various club activities.
Mr. Praveen Saini (Assistant Controller of Examination) informed them about the system of examination followed by the University.
Mr. Farman Ali (Head-Sports Committee) shared the details about various sports events organized by the institute at intra and inter university levels.
Mr. Iqbal Singh (Head-Training & Placement Cell) briefed the students regarding campus placements in the university and the requirements for placement as preferred by the companies visiting for placement. He emphasized upon the need for good communication skills and personality development.
Mr. N.C. Uniyal (Chief Librarian) briefed the students about the library and the digital library facilities in Uttaranchal University.
The event concluded with Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Amitabh Bhargava.
