Uttaranchal Institute of Management organized a two-day Seminar on “Insight of Entrepreneurship Development” on 1st & 2nd March, 2019 for its students of MBA, MCA, BCA, B.Sc.(IT), BBA and B.Com.(Hons). The Speakers for the Seminar were Dr. Pradeep Suri (Director-UIM), Dr. Sonal Sharma (HOD-IT) and Dr. Anshul Sharma (HOD-Management). The seminar primarily focused on entrepreneurship development along with the amalgamation of work efforts of IT and Management students.
The event started with the recital of Kulgeet followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. Sonal Sharma. Dr. Suri explained entrepreneurship as the process of starting a business, typically a start-up company, based around an innovative product, process or service. While an entrepreneur develops a business plan, acquires the human, financial and other required resources, and is responsible for its success or failure. Dr. Suri however mentioned that the obvious and significant role of being an entrepreneur is that it creates employment for the person owning the business. He suggested that not all young people could become entrepreneurs in a business sense but it is necessary to develop certain skills. Further on he provided information on how the university can help budding entrepreneurs (students) in the whole process.
The second speaker Dr. Sonal Sharma addressed the students on the subject matter by sharing her personal experiences. Dr. Sharma primarily emphasised on how the amalgamation of IT skills with management proficiencies can help solve industry problems. Dr. Sharma invited various IT students on stage to share their experiences that solved real world problem using IT technologies. She emphasized on the need to encourage collaboration between young people and well-established businesses and the exchange of knowledge between generations.
Dr. Anshul Sharma motivated the students to come forward with new ideas and assured them that the entire faculty fraternity of UIM would support and guide them to achieve success.
