A 14-day Faculty Development Programme on “Big Data Analytics” was organized by Uttaranchal Institute of Management from 10 July to 23 July, 2020. It was inaugurated on 10 July by Vice Chancellor (Officiating) Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna and was attended by Director-UIM, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri and Head- Department of Computer Application Dr. Sonal Sharma along with faculty members of UIM and faculty members & research scholars from different Universities and Institutes. Mr. Savood Ahmed, Senior Technical Trainer from ENSINO Research and Development (Private) Limited was the Resource Person.
Mr. Abhishek Pathak was the Master of Ceremony. At the outset, he invited Dr. Pradeep Suri to felicitate Vice Chancellor (Officiating) Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna. Thereafter, Dr. Sonal Sharma felicitated Mr. Savood Ahmed. The programme commenced with the lighting of the auspicious lamp followed by the recital of University Kulgeet.
Mr. Abhishek Pathak summarized the skills addressed and developed in the programme listing them as follows:

- Hadoop & its feature, Hadoop 2.x Core component.
- YARN MapReduce Application execution flow.
- MapReduce: Combiner & Partitioner.Demo of Health Care Dataset, Weather Dataset.
- Shell and Utility Command.
- Pig UDF & Pig Streaming.
- Introduction to Apache Hive, Pig.
- Hadoop project Demo.
- Hadoop Talned Integration.
In his address Vice Chancellor (Officiating) welcomed all the participants and emphasized upon the need of such programmes for the over-all growth of faculty members and expressed his conviction that such programmes add value to their stature.
There upon, Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri addressed the audience regarding the significance of such FDPs and explained how they can help the faculty members in their growth ultimately leading to institutional development. He emphasised that Big Data Analytics is a pre-requisite for their personal advancement.
Thereafter, Vice Chancellor (Officiating) Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna distributed Participation Certificates to all the participants of the Training Programme.
Mr. Abhishek Pathak thanked all for active participation in the programme, thus, making it a success.
