Uttaranchal Institute of Management organizes a Debate on “Eradicate Corruption - Build a New India”

Uttaranchal Institute of Management, under the aegis of Uttaranchal University, conducted a Debate Competition on November 1, 2018 on the topic “Eradicate Corruption-Build a New India”, in the wake of ‘Vigilance Week’ being observed all over India between October 29, 2018 to November 3, 2018 as per the letter no: D.O.NO. F 30 -57/2012(CVO) dated October 16, 2018 received from Ministry of Human Affairs, New Delhi.

More than 40 students from Management and Computer Applications Department of UIM participated in this debate with full enthusiasm, intellect and zeal.

Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri (Director-UIM) and Dr. Sonal Sharma (HOD-IT) inaugurated the event.

Prof. (Dr.) Pradeep Suri while addressing the students said that Corruption affects developing and developed countries equally, and cripples economic development, deters investment, robs funds from the deserving people and services and stifles entrepreneurship. He also said that all social evils and malpractices can be fought by eradication of corruption and it is this generation who has to eradicate corruption from a developing country like ours. They have to work hard and induce the people to imbibe the habit of saying “NO” to corruption all the time. He further emphasised that it has to be a regular activity and cannot be done one time only.

The honorable judges were Ms. Sultana Parveen, Ms. Pooja Gupta and Mr. Farman Ali, who adjudged the participants on the basis of content, confidence, presentation and communication skills of the students.

The Winner of the Debate was Samiya Siddique from B.Sc. (IT) 2nd Year and Ms. Garima Arora from B. Com.(H) 1st Year.

The Master of Ceremony was Ms. Kavita Mehra of BBA 2nd year.

The technical support rendered by Mr. Anand Rawat (Lab Technician) made the event effective and successful.
