Uttaranchal College of Nurses celebrates International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day is celebrated every year globally on May 12. The day is the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the English Social Reformer, and the founder of Modern Nursing. Nurses’ day is dedicated to the strong pillar of the healthcare system, which works day and night for the well-being of people. International Nurses Day is observed to earmark the honor and celebrate the contributions of the nurses everywhere. International Nurses Day was observed by the International Council of Nurses and the day has been observed officially since 1974. International Nurses Day 2022 acknowledges the fact that like doctors, nurses have also become heroes for saving and healing patients amid the widespread COVID-19 pandemic.

The theme for 2022 is Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.

The program started with a welcome address following the address by Dr Babu D, Principal, Uttaranchal College of Nursing, who highlighted the role of being registered nurses and skills in demand on national and global levels. Prof (Dr) Dharam Buddhi, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor addressed that nursing is a noble profession and concerned with helping others as well as nursing boasts excellent career prospects. Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor specified the need for nurses The nurses will be able to apply their skills to save a life in everyday scenarios, becoming an asset to family, friends, and society. At the end, Hon’ble Chancellor Shri. Jitender Joshi addressed the significance of the futuristic role of nursing students who will be graduating from Uttaranchal University.
