Tree Plantation Drive was organised on 06 August 2022 in association with “Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Seva Samiti & Youth Wing’ at Telpura Forest Land, Selaqui, Dehradun. Students of Uttaranchal School of Computing Sciences also participated actively and enthusiastically in the activity. More than 8000 saplings were planted in the drive.

The Chief Guest of the Event was Shri Subodh Uniyal Jithe Forest Minister of Uttarakhand along with other dignitaries Mr Amit Gambhir, Cluster Head, The Times of India, Mr Rohit Mishra, Center Director, Pacific Mall, Mr R K Bakshi, President, Shri Nityanand Swami Jan Seva Samiti.

 The Tree Planting Activity aims to raise awareness among the students about the importance of planting and saving trees, express their concern towards the environment, and diminish the unfavorable effects of climate change. It also helps students to build strong relationships and camaraderie with each other for preserving the environment.

The Chief Guest Shri Subodh Uniyal Ji encouraged the students to make smart and sustainable choices in their daily lives to conserve nature. The Forest Officer Shri Jitendra Singh also addressed the gathering and made the students understand how to plant the saplings. A huge number of saplings were planted for the activity, including saplings of fruit-bearing trees (Amla) and plants of medicinal value (Kachnar). Students planted saplings with their name tags. After the successful completion of the drive, all the students got participation certificates.

The plantation drive was a great success under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Sonal Sharma, Dean, USCS, Mr Abhishek Kumar Pathak, Head, Cultural and Academic Events, Head of Prakriti club, Ms Manisha Khanduja & Head NSS Cell Mr Praveen Shah with support of all the Faculty Members.
