The School of Liberal Arts celebrated Parakashtha: The Himalayan Day on 09 September 2022

This day was celebrated to mark the importance of the Himalayas. The Himalayan hill cities face many challenges due to poor building planning and design, poor infrastructures like roads, water supply, sewage etc., and unprecedented felling of trees. This results in serious ecological issues. The day was observed highlighting that there is an urgent need to develop eco-sensitive hill town plans and designs. The Himalayas are a source of strength and valuable heritage for the entire world. So, it needs to be protected. Apart from promoting scientific knowledge, the day helps to raise awareness and community participation. Himalaya Day 2022 was observed under the theme ‘Himalayas will be safe only when the interests of its Residents are protected. Prof (Dr) Shravan Kumar, Dean School of Liberal Arts, Prof (Dr) Reeta Rautela, HoD, and all the faculty members were present for the event. The event was inaugurated with an introductory speech by Manan Gupta. A documentary was shown that represented the struggles of people spending their lives in the Himalayas. It also created a huge impact on everyone with a strong sense of belongingness towards the Himalayas.  The students participated with great enthusiasm to represent their thoughts on the Himalayas by showcasing their talents. The session was conducted to emphasize the necessity of protecting the needs of lives prevailing over the Himalayas. The students understood the importance of The Himalayas and took a pledge to be an eco-warrior.
