School of Liberal Arts’ Knowledge Sharing Series on Research Trends in Translations

The Knowledge Sharing Series had its 10th session on 15 October 2022. The session was organized in the SLA building at 11:00 am. The speaker of this session was Dr Monika Gupta. Dr Pinki Chugh, coordinator KSS welcomed the audience and invited the speaker for knowledge sharing.

The topic was Research Trends in Translations.   Dr Monika Gupta Aggarwal shared her valuable knowledge on the topic elaborating on the concept and how it is being used in the present-day context to effectively deal with sociocultural problems of the society. Translations are the need of the time and are an active area of research. She discussed some of the best works by eminent writers that have been translated into filmic adaptations to reach the masses proving to be reformative along with entertainment value for money. Many works of Shakespeare, Jhumpa Lahiri, VS Naipaul and Chetan Bhagat, have already created benchmarks in the field.

She further added that whenever work is translated the perspectives change as per the writer. This dilutes the originality of the work.
