School of Liberal Arts celebrates ‘International Women’s Day’

“She is water. Powerful enough to drown you, soft enough to cleanse you, and deep enough to save you.” – Adrian Michael

‘Woman’, this single term in itself holds the richness of the entire cosmos. It is a woman who brings into life the existence of us. A woman holds ascendancy over the existence of life on earth. And therefore, it is inevitable to eulogize her power, prowess, perfection and her painstaking traits.

In order to dignify the women and pay a tribute to them, the students of School of Liberal Arts gathered on the 6th of March to commemorate the gratifying contributions of women in the past, regard the strength of the women in the present and to ignite the fire of a ‘fighter’ in the women of the future.

The show was hosted by Ms. Yamini and Ms. Anjali, students of B.A. (Hons.) English. The awe-inspiring program commenced with a video clip that melted the audience’s hearts with its fabricated praise and an applauding tribute to women. The program proceeded with a euphonious performance by Sayantani Majumdar which was relished by everyone. Someone has beautifully quoted that “empowered women empower women”. It is such an amazing moment when a woman stands up to carve out the charms of other women like her and represent themselves and reflect their subtleties. A heart-warming presentation was made by Ms. Bharti (Assistant Professor – SLA). Through her remarkable speech, she highlighted the deteriorating state of women in the current scenario, the unfortunate gender inequality that needs to be tackled and finally, encouraged everyone with an optimistic piece of poetry. Further, an engaging play, with words in the form of ‘shayari’, performance was presented by Pawan Singh Rawat, (student of B.A.) highlighting the revolutionary women of our society. The program concluded with an aesthetic composition that was presented by Mr. Komil Kumar (Assistant Professor – SLA). The enchanting words of his poem reflected that “a man who respects all women is a true gentleman.” He spoke about the heinous crime of Female Foeticide. This paved the path for a graceful, yet sentimental, conclusion of the program.

The mesmerizing performances won the hearts of all. The program was successfully organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shriya Goyal (Dean – SLA) by Ms. Reeta Rautela (Assistant Professor – SLA). Her efforts and skills made the program delightful yet awakening. The crucial contribution of the organizers and the back stage staff was appreciated. The program was successful in evoking a sense of respect and responsibility towards women. The whole event was an artistic success that was furnished by the valuable presence of all the Faculty Members and the students gathered there.
