School of Applied and Life Sciences organizes an Awareness Programme on “Dengue Prevention”

An Awareness Programme on “Dengue Prevention” was organized by Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied and Life Sciences (SALS), Uttaranchal University on 18th September, 2019 in association with Uttarakhand Science Education Research Centre (USERC), Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of Uttarakhand. The Invited Speaker and Technical Expert of the event was Dr. Narotam Sharma, Scientist, Molecular Diagnostic Division, CMRL Laboratory.

The event was inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal -SALS and Dean – Research and Studies, Uttaranchal University and Dr. Narotam Sharma. Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, in his address, emphasized on the significance of conducting such awareness programmes, especially the ones which cater to urgent issues like the prevailing scenario of Dengue outbreak. In his talk Dr. Ajay Singh also mentioned about the moral responsibility of people to create awareness in their community to minimize the spread of Dengue. Dr. Narotam Sharma, in his Technical Session, gave an elaborated presentation on causes, symptoms, diagnosis and pathogenesis of Dengue. He also briefed the participants about the preventive measures and the precautions to minimize dengue infection. Students of various departments participated in the event. As a part of the event the students conducted a door-to-door Awareness Programme in Kehri Village and provided crucial information regarding Dengue. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Nishesh Sharma, Head – Department of Biotechnology and executed by Dr. Indra Rautela. Dr. Rohit Sharma, Dr. Vivekanand Bahuguna, Dr. Archna, Dr. Rakesh Matura and Dr. Waseem Ahmad were present on the occasion. The event proved to be extremely beneficial and informative for all the participants.
