School of Applied and Life Sciences conducts an Educational Tour to UCOST on the occasion of ‘World Wildlife Day 2021’

On the occasion of ‘World Wildlife Day’ Department of Chemistry organized an Educational   Tour to  UCOST, Dehradun on 3rd March, 2021  for the students of B. Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry.  The objective of the tour was to participate in the event organised by UCOST on the occasion of “World Wildlife Day”. The day is observed every year on March 3 to celebrate the world’s flora and fauna, and to raise awareness about animals going extinct. The tour was organized by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh,  Dean – School of Applied and Life Sciences .

UCOST is an autonomous body of Department of Science & Technology, Government of Uttarakhand. It promotes science & technology for socio-economic benefit
of the state and of the nation and coordinates such research and development projects and programmes (including demonstration projects) as are likely to be relevant to the achievement of specific objectives and problems and help in the fruitful exploitation of the natural resources of the State. The agency spread science and scientific temper and attitude amongst the people of the state and helps to disseminate scientific knowledge.

The students visited the Regional Science Centre of UCOST where they were very happy to   see the various scientific models and latest technologies in the field of science and technology. They also attended an Expert Talk by, IFS Mr. Kunal Sathyarthi, on ‘Conservation of Wildlife and Sustainable Development.’

Students found the visit to be real-life learning experience and were excited to feel the dynamic vibes of Science. The students realized the importance of Wildlife and the importance of its conservation. They understood that protecting wildlife meant protecting their future. The students were accompanied by Dr. Poonam Negi Head -Department of Chemistry & Dr. Waseem Ahmad, Coordinator -Tours, Department of Chemistry, SALS.
