Women Cell, Sashakti, organized a Slogan Writing Competition on ‘Women Empowerment’ on 22nd October, 2019 for the students of Management and IT.
The activity was organized and executed by Dr. Meena Negi, (Head – Women Cell) Dr. Diksha Panwar, Mr. Shivendra Chaudhary & Mrs. Vijaylakshmi Sajwan (Members – Women Cell). Director – UIM Dr. Pradeep Suri graced the event with his benign presence and encouraged the teams to compete with zest and to propagate the issue of women empowerment and its importance in uplifting the place of women in the society.
The main objective of the activity was to make students participate and reflect on the important topic of Women Empowerment collectively or individually by not only bringing it out on a chart paper but also presenting various aspects related to the topic and its sub themes to the jury and the audience. As the topic needs to be told and professed to society at large so to bring a deeper impact, second part of the activity was based on campaigning the idea by conducting a rally with chanting of slogans in the campus.
The activity was divided into two parts:
1. Slogan Writing and Presentation Round – Fourteen Teams comprising of either individual member or a group of three were asked to prepare a chart depicting the concept of women empowerment by selecting one of the sub themes as per their choice. The sub themes given were:
- Role of Women in Social/Political/Economic conditions
- Women Education
- Women Safety/Health
- Gender Equality
- Women Rights & Law
The Teams chose a sub theme as per their choice and prepared a chart. Teams were given the opportunity to present it before the judges and to answer their queries on the idea they portrayed through their presentations. The selection of the best three teams was based on the following criteria: Overall appearance and appeal, Theme, Clarity, Creativity/New Ideas and Presentation. The eminent jury comprised of Dr. Amitabh Bhargava (Professor, Management, UIM) and Dr. Monisha Awasthi (Assistant Professor, Computer Applications, UIM).
2. Campaigning in Campus – All the participating teams along with volunteer students walked around the University Campus propagating the slogans prepared by them on Women Empowerment in order to create awareness. It effectively caught the attention of onlookers including students, faculty and other staff members.
