A seven-day Special Camp was organized by the NSS Unit of Uttaranchal University

A seven-day Special Camp was organized by the NSS Unit of Uttaranchal University from March 19, 2018 to March 25, 2018 in Village Bania Wala. The University’s NSS Unit was flagged off by Hon’ble Chancellor of Uttaranchal University Shri Jitender Joshi and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi.

The camp started in the Panchayat Bhawan Bania Vaala with the lighting of the auspicious lamp and Saraswati Vandana. Village Head Mrs. Seema Devi, Mr. Chhote Lal, Mr. Shailendra along with Dr. V.K. Srivastava, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Mr. Atma Nand, Dr. Mohit, Dr. Shalu Chaudhary, Ms. Deepika Saxena and Dr. Ajay Kumar were present on the occasion.
The Gram Pradhan expressed her good wishes to the students and introduced them to the residents of the village.

The objectives set by the NSS Unit for the seven-day Special Camp included organization of awareness of cleanliness drive, repair of roads, plantation and drainage along with informing the residents regarding various projects of the government.

Dr. VK Srivastava told the students about NSS and made them aware of their duties towards the country and society. He further allocated the daily routine and work of the camp to the volunteers. In the following 6 days, the students cleaned several places including the Elementary School of the village and worked towards drainage of water.
In the evening sessions, the volunteers used to visit the village and raise awareness regarding Government Schemes such as “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, Blood Donation, Sanitation Campaign and Waste Management and the like.

Each day of the camp concluded with the writing of the diary wherein the routine of the day was recorded along with experiences.

On the concluding day of the seven-day Special Camp, Hon’ble Chancellor Shri. Jitender Joshi and Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi personally visited and reviewed the work done in the camp. Hon’ble Chancellor Shri. Jitender Joshi was very much pleased with the work done by the volunteers and also appreciated the zeal of the volunteers. Dr. V.K. Srivastava, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Mr. Atma Nand were present on the occasion.
The students concluded the camp in the presence of Village Head and Ward Members.
