School of Applied and Life Sciences organizes a three-day Workshop on “Molecular Diagnostic Technique”

Three days training programme was organized by Department of Biotechnology Uttaranchal College of applied and life sciences, Uttranchal University from 6th to 8th December 2017 on “Molecular Diagonestic techniques”. The event was inaugurated by the lighting the auspicious lamp by Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi, Vice Chancellor, Uttaranchal University and Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh, Principal -SALS & Dean – Research & Studies), Dr. Nishesh Sharma (HOD) along with Invited Guests and Technical Experts.

In the inaugural session Prof. (Dr.) N.K. Joshi highlighted importance of conducting such training programme and how such advance training programmes are beneficial for researchers and academicians. Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh in his address briefed about the training Programme and provided basic and fundamental knowledge on molecular diagonestic techniques.

Dr Narotam Sharma (Scientist) Incharge Molecular diagonestic division Central Molecular Research Laboratory SGRRIM & HS Dehradun and Dr Manish Dev Sharma Assistant Professor SGRR University were the guest of honour and key note speakers on the inaugural day. The training programme comprises of six technical sessions in which basics of various biological techniques related to molecular diagonestic was provided to the participants. On first technical session Demonstration of PCR was conducted and application of PCR was explained to the students. On the second technical session demonstration of SDS-PAGE was conducted. In third technical session technique related to genomic DNA isolation from various tissues was explained and demonstrated to the participants. In the next three technical session Agarose Gel electrophoresis, ELISA its principle and working was demonstrated. On last day an Interactive session on advancement in forensic sciences was also conducted in which role of molecular diagonestic techniques in forensic sciences was explained in detail to participants. In the last technical session hands on practice on immunological assays were conducted. The training Programme concluded with a Vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Singh and distribution of certificates.
