LCDians emerge victorious in “URJAA”

Law College Dehradun participated in URJAA- “The Battle of Words” organized by Ideal Institute of Management and Technology & School of Law, Delhi on 16th &17th of October 2018. The format of the event was based on Youth Parliament and was represented by a team of students which included:
1. Saakshi Suneja – BBA.LL.B 1st Semester
2. Lakshika Rawat – BBA.LL.B 3rd Semester
3. Saumya Chauhan – BBA.LL.B 3rd Semester
4. Suyash Raj – BBA.LL.B 1st Semester
5. Abhishek Karan – BBA.LL.B 7th Semester
6. Akshay Chawla – BBA.LL.B 9th Semester
7. Lakshay Agarwal – BBA.LL.B 9th Semester

There were 3 Committees that were stimulated in the event, namely, Lok Sabha, Historic All India Political Party Meet and Citizen Dialogue.

The Agenda of the Committee included:
1. Historic AJPPM – Kargil War
2. Lok Sabha – Review of NDA Government
3. Citizen Dialogue – Reviewing the Citizenship Law with special emphasis on the NRC Policy.

There were more than 250 students from more than 30 colleges who participated in this Youth Parliament and the competition and quality of debate was very high. Various issues were discussed in the event and students of Law College Dehradun performed exceptionally well. Lakshay Agarwal who represented Shri Mallika Arjun Kharge (MP from Congress) in Lok Sabha won the award of ‘Special Mention’ while Akshay Chawla who represented Mr. Gaurav Gagoi (MP from Congress) in Lok Sabha won the award of ‘Honourable Mention’. The other students also performed well and got to learn new things. This event was a learning curve for the students who are now expected to perform better in upcoming events.
