Law College Dehradun, faculty of Uttaranchal University organized the 6th NMCC valedictory session in the presence of Hon’ble Judge of Delhi High Court Mukundakam Sharma as the Chief Guest at the mega Competitive event while Former Judge of Uttarakhand High Court and Former Chairman Uttarakhand Law Commission Mr. Rajesh Tandon, Advocates of Supreme Court, Shri Surjendu Sankar Das and Dr. Charu Mathur, Senior Advocate of Supreme Court, Shri Rakesh Khanna and Dean of Law College Dehradun, Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna were present as judges of the event.
A five-judge full bench was constituted to dispense the litigation between Campus Law Centre-2 Delhi University and Lloyd School of Law Greater Noida under consideration before the simulated Supreme Court. Prof. Rajesh Bahuguna stated that three joint litigations based on imaginary facts were presented before the constitution bench in the final round of the competition. The litigants challenged the N.D.P.C. Act and Maharashtra Prohibition Act under the different Articles 14, 19, 21, 25, and 29 of the Indian Constitution. Litigants and advocates of Govt. presented their respective arguments in favour and against their claims. The event began with the formal rituals of lamp lighting and felicitations.
In a tough contest, the adjudicating body declared Lloyd School of Law Greater Noida as the winner and Campus Law Centre-2 Delhi University as the runner-up of the competition. Krishna Wankheda of Maharashtra National Law University and Soumya Dwivedi of Symbiosis Law School, Pune were adjudged as the best male and female speakers respectively. Besides, Lloyd Law School was rewarded for presenting the best Memorial while Rishabh Agarwal of the Campus Law Centre-2 University of Delhi was declared as the Best Researcher. Chancellor of the university Shri Jitender Joshi rewarded the winners with a cash prize of Rs. 60,000 along with trophies.
Mr. Justice Mukundkam Sharma maintained in his address that the legal profession is a Noble profession that gets opportunities to serve society at large. He said that every law of the country must always conform to constitutional validity. He also said that laws related to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances must be dealt with the utmost strictness. A casual attitude in the enforcement of laws related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances is not only harmful to the country but dangerous for humanity.
Speaking at the mega event, Justice Rajesh Tandon said that the business of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances is an organized crime that very easily attracts ambitious youths. The program was also addressed by Advocates Shri Surjendu Sankar Das, Dr. Charu Mathur, Shri Rakesh Khanna and Head of Department of Law College Dehradun Prof. Poonam Rawat.
Those chiefly present on the occasion were Chancellor Shri Jitender Joshi, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dharam Buddhi, Dr. Poonam Rawat, Dr. Anit Dixit, Dr. Radhey Shyam Jha, Kuljit Singh, Abhiranjan Dixit and hundreds of Faculty Members and students.
