Law College Dehradun organizes a Workshop on ‘Drug Abuse’

Law College Dehradun organized a Workshop on ‘Drug Abuse’ under the aegis of its NSS Team in collaboration with Dainik Jagran, Uttarakhand, on the theme “DIAL AGAINST DRUGS” on 16th February, 2019. The objective of the event was to create awareness against drugs amidst the youth. Shri. Ashok Kumar, IPS (DG Law & Order) Uttarakhand Police, was invited as the Chief Guest of the occasion.

The event commenced with the Inaugural Address of Principal & Dean Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Bahuguna who welcomed the dignitary of the day and gave a brief account of him. He in his speech stated that Mr. Ashok Kumar joined the Indian Police Service in the year 1989 and has undertaken many challenging assignments in the various states of India like UP, Uttarakhand, Allahabad, Aligarh, Chamoli, Mathura, Shahjahanpur, Rampur, Nainital, to name a few. He is also the recipient of several awards and is the author of the famous book ‘Human in Kakhi’, which is translated in several languages.

The Chief Guest in his address created awareness on the merits and demerits of drug in the minds of the students. He also explained about the campaign run by him in association with Dainik Jagran to curb the use of drug. Mr. Ashok Kumar motivated the students to work towards this noble cause by spreading awareness on drug abuse and its related social and economic problems in a country. He also encouraged the students to channelize their energy in a positive and productive way. Following this, a documentary film on drug abuse and its ill effects on the health and life of the youth filmed by an alumnus of the college was played. In addition to this the First Edition of LCD Newsletter was released by the Chief Guest and the Workshop concluded with an interaction with the students. Mr. Ashok Kumar ended the session by motivating them to play an active role in helping the Police Department to curtail the menace of Drug abuse in the city.
